You can't make your kids love Jesus
In a recent talk “God is strong. Am I?” Francis Chan, in the conclusion, has some encouraging and liberating words for parents. We need to remind ourselves of this day in and day out. (About 8 minutes before the end) I’ve typed it out here. You can listen to the whole talk by following this link.
Some of you moms, your struggling with courage. I’m saying this because we’ve gone through it. As parents you just start doubting yourself. You start going “man, I can’t”. The frustrating thing is you can’t make your kids love Jesus no matter what you do. What are you gonna do? Force it on them. You think that if you do everything right then they are going to believe and follow him. I’ve seen some pretty awesome parents, godly men and women, who’ve had kids that just went in the opposite direction. You’ve got no control. It’s all in God’s hands. I’m just telling you ladies don’t put all that pressure on yourself. Don’t take yourself that seriously. The Holy Spirit comes into your child’s heart and you pray like crazy for that to happen and you model it in the home. Just be a woman of God…
